Devils goalie Martin Brodeur won't be starting: For the first time in 52 games

03/11/2008 13:06

For the first time in 52 games, Devils goalie Martin Brodeur won't be starting. He suffered a bruised elbow during the second period of the Devils' 6-1 win Saturday against the Atlanta Thrashers and was scheduled to have tests Sunday. He played long enough to pick up the 544th win of his career, eight shy of breaking Patrick Roy's NHL record. The last time Brodeur didn't start was Jan. 5 at the Boston Bruins. The last time he didn't dress because of an injury was in November 2005 when he hurt his knee. The Devils called up Jeff Frazee from the ECHL to back up Kevin Weekes.
